Publicity Free Publicity Business

When running a catering business you will need as much publicity as possible. This way you will gain new clients and your turnover will increase. If you are able to find ways to promote your business without it costing money so much the better.

Business networking

You will find that by joining local business networking groups you may pick up some free publicity or even some work from other members. This does not happen often, in fact most of these organisations are made up of people wanting to brag about their success. But, it is worth trying just in case you come across an interesting forward thinking group.

Charity

By supporting a local charity not only will you be helping those in the neighbourhood of your business you will also be mentioned in newspaper reports of events which adds up to free valuable advertising. Make sure you always carry fliers about your business and hand them out at every opportunity.

Special Events

Throughout the year you will find that your business is able to take part in seasonal and national events such as national holidays and royal weddings. If your catering business is hired to take part in these events, send a press release to your local newspapers and television stations so that if there is coverage of the event your business is mentioned. Make sure your staff are wearing tops or uniforms where your business name is emblazoned large enough for readers and viewers to see.

Celebrities

If you own a catering establishment or hire a venue for an event invite a local celebrity along. Arrange publicity and interviews with the press as the celebrity will want the world to know that they are supporting a charity or event. The celebrity will get the exposure they require and your business will be in the spotlight. Get to know the media contacts in your locality, as they will then call on you for other information thus furthering your business publicity and increasing business networking.

Free Publicity

Free publicity needs to be worked at. By supporting charities you are able to support causes close to your heart and also benefit from the usual publicity. At these events you will meet dignitaries and local business people who will remember your company and hopefully hire them at a later date.

Press releases

Get used to notifying the local press every time you are involved in a special event. Do this by writing a press release. This can be done by email and basically sets out news of your company and what the big news event is to be. You need to keep it short as it is more likely to be used and you have free publicity! Under no circumstances give the history of your business or promote just the business, for free publicity the press release must be giving out news. If it is news of interest to readers it will be used but if you are simply advertising your business you will be invited to purchase advertising space. Offering free meals for reader’s competitions will also ingratiate your business with the editor of the newspaper and bring more publicity when the competition is run.

Learn

You will gradually learn how to obtain the right free publicity for your business and who is able to supply this. Whether it is through business networking, supporting charities or publicity through competitions it will benefit your business immensely.
